On 12th May, Swan Lake, a ballet by Natalya Makarova from Ballet of China in Tokyo Festival Hall finished with on-spot passionate attention and unceasing applause from over 2,300 Japanese audiences. The successful conclusion of the last performance by Ballet of China in Tokyo Festival Hall marks the Ballet's success in making its great debut in Japan. Built on the remarkable success of the performance in Japan and its widespread influence, Dunhuang, an original great ballet as another performance of historic importance by the Ballet, will be put on the stage and rated in the 12th China Arts Festival to be held in Shanghai. The Ballet has also started to prepare Dunhuang right after the ballet in Japan.
The troupe of nearly 200 people led by its leader Feng Ying has arrived in Shanghai in successive 6 groups from Tokyo in Japan and from Beijing in China. In particular, the performing team and stage art division immediately flew to Shanghai the next day (May 13), after finishing a whole week of bustling visit in Japan. Unity, pragmatism, self-improvement and hard work as the spirit of Ballet of China is demonstrated and effused naturally in cross-border flights, in carefully-arranged schedules, in constant transitions and stage setting by stage designers and also in dedication to "back-to-back" rehearsal by ballet dancers beside bars in rehearsal halls.
