Green mountains and jade-like rivers are treats in the eyes.

Cattles and goats appear when wind makes the grass bow.

Sorghum turns red and rice flowers expire fragrance.

Loads of grains fill the barns full.

In the times of war, there was as great group of woman in the Yimeng Mountain area. They sent their son to the army and their husband to the front, made clothes and shoes for the Red Army, risked their own lives to save the wounded and spared no effort in raising the offspring of revolutionary martyrs. They composed a series of stories that depicted the harmony between the soldiers and people, and they were addressed the "Yimeng Red Sisters".

In Yimeng -- A Ballet in Three Chapters to be staged, numerous "Yimeng Red Sisters" and their heroic stories are condensed in three representative chapters: The Bridge under Fire, The Virgin Bride and Passions of Yimeng.

Chapter I: Bridge under Fire

In the wartime, a woman named "Guifang" led over 30 other women carried door sheets on their shoulder, jumped into icy water and set up a "bridge under fire" with their weak bodies...

Chapter II: The Virgin Bride

In order to support her husband to join the army and fight against the enemy, the "bride" completed the wedding ceremony with the rooster held by her sister-in-law. She never met her husband till he died on the battlefield and was widowed for the rest of her life...

Chapter III: Passions of Yimeng

It told the touching story of "Sister Ying" who saved a wounded soldier with her own milk. Passions of Yimeng eulogized the deep friendship between the army and the people that were in complete harmony and shared a common destiny.

On April 19th (Friday), the first performance of Yimeng -- A Ballet in Three Chapters will be staged in Beijing Tianqiao Theater. National Ballet of China invites you to experience touching stories of the "Yimeng Red Sisters" and pay respect to the great Yimeng spirit.
