In 2025, as the National Ballet of China commemorates the 10th anniversary of The Crane Calling– originally inspired by the true story of Xu Xiujuan, the first environmental martyr of China – a brand new version is set to be staged from September 24 to 28 at Beijing Tianqiao Theater.

For this commemorative performances, NBC reunited the original creation team under the leadership of Artistic Director Feng Ying, who now guides a new generation of talented artists in re-staging this ballet.

The anniversary performances will be brought to life by the dynamic young dancers of NBC.

Guest composer Shen Yiwen will conduct the NBC Symphony Orchestra for the first time in the complete live music performance of the ballet The Crane Calling.
