In order to comprehensively summarize the 60 years of enterprise, inheritance, creation and integration of National Ballet of China, with the festivity of celebrating the 60th birthday of the National Ballet of China, the academic seminar "Retrospect and Prospect" was held in the National Ballet of China Auditorium on December 30th, 2019. The seminar was warmly supported and widely responded by China Dancers Association, Chinese National Academy of Arts, Beijing Dance Academy and other units and institutions, senior artists of National Ballet of China and audiences from all walks of life who have paid attention to and supported National Ballet of China for a long time.
After starting the on-site speech, many guests expressed their opinions from different perspectives and fields, discussed the progress, achievements, problems and challenges faced by National Ballet of China, and provided suggestions for the Company to continue climbing the art peak bravely in the future.
Luo Bin, Party Secretary of China Dancers Association, said that in the past 60 years, National Ballet of China has been the core of Chinese ballet, the colorful chapters of the development of contemporary dance in China and fully embodied the cultural confidence of Chinese dance.
Ye Xiaogang, Chairman of Chinese Musicians' Association, believed that in the past 60 years, National Ballet of China has made historic contributions to the construction of new socialist culture in contemporary China. He put higher expectations for the Company in aspects like ballet music creation and so on.
Pu Cunxin, Chairman of Chinese Theatre Association, recalled his indissoluble relationship with ballet from the period of been an educated youth. From the unique perspective of "learning from drama and cultivating with arts", he interpreted his unique understanding and experience of ballet art and encouraged young artists of the Company to forge ahead with their original intentions, and never slack in the rigorous art career.
Bai Shuxiang, A Senior Artist and Representative of former leaders of National Ballet of China, passionately narrated the story of the founders and all the predecessors of National Ballet of China, who struggled to create Chinese ballet with selfless dedication. Every person, every dance piece and every moment are the precious spiritual wealth of the Company.
Feng Shuangbai, Chairman of China Dancers Association, passionately delivered the speech of "brilliant sixty years, embracing the new era". Reviewing the past 60 years of the National Ballet of China, he summed up the good experience that is worth learning and adhering to, and put forward new expectations for the training of ballet choreographers.
Yu Ping, Vice Chairman of the China Literature and Art Critics Association, started from the "start forms" and "original mind" of National Ballet of China, combed the 60 years' artistic process of NBC from White Swan to The Red Detachment of Women, and proposed that the Company should take the lead in "Core thinking of Chinese ballet in the new era".
Huang Minxuan, a Senior Artist and Representative of former leaders of National Ballet of China, earnestly instructed young artists of National Ballet of China to carry forward the spirit of "mentoring", which is not only a glorious tradition but also a magic weapon of the Company to continuously improve their skills and make breakthroughs.
Ou Jianping, Honorary Director of Dance Institute of Chinese National Academy of Arts, based on his rich experience of taking National Ballet of China as the key research object for a long time, put forward suggestions on the current situation of theoretical construction, academic norms and directions of expansion.
On behalf of the National Art Troupes, Zhou Yuyuan, President of National Theatre of China, wished that National Ballet of China will become "the guide of the developing trend of the world ballet art" and hope the "the future of ballet art would be in China".
Guo Lei, President of Beijing Dance Academy, put forward his insightful views on the training of ballet professionals based on the fact that Beijing Dance Academy has continuously provided excellent young talents for the National Ballet of China in the past 60 years.
Chi Huisheng, former Executive Vice President of Peking University, through the cooperation and consensus between National Ballet of China and Peking University on ballet popularization and art education, encouraged NBC to "never forget the original aspiration, absorb foreign elements and face the future" so as to welcome the future of the new era with never-ending dance steps.

Also, they wished that on the basis of the persistent efforts of several generations of artists, National Ballet of China can have a deeper dialogue with the international ballet arena and offer more classic works with distinctive Chinese features to the world under the lead of Director Feng Ying.
