Zhu Lei graduated from College of Military Culture of the PLA National Defense University(formerly People’s Liberation Army Arts College). She used to work in the Political Work Department of the Army and served as a teacher at the College of Military Culture of the PLA National Defense University. Now she is a teacher of the School of NBC and the principal person in charge of educational affairs.
She has played leading roles in dance works such as Look at the Clouds, Dawn, The Future is Mine, and dance dramas such as Lotus, Journey to the West, Butterfly Lovers and Yellow River-Dance of Life. She also danced in dance dramas such as Farewell, My Concubine, A Dream of Red Mansions, etc., and worked as a choreographer, performer and dance stunt double in the film Shadow directed by Zhang Yimou.
She has won the gold medal of classical dance performance in the 9th China Dance Lotus Award, the silver prize of the classical dance in youth group in the 10th National Dance Competition (Taoli Cup) and the third prize of the 7th CCTV Dance Competition, the 2nd prize of individual performance in the 2nd PLA art performance, the 2nd prize of municipal performance, the 3rd prize of creation and the instructor award of the 17th Beijing Dance Competition. She once served as the leading role and choreographer of many national-level large-scale performances, such as the Fourth Summit Gala of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, CICA, the Gala of the APEC Summit, the CMG Lantern Festival Gala, the cultural performance of the Belt and Road International Summit Forum, Forty Years We Walked, the Gala Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up, and the large-scale music and dance epic Struggle, Chinese People, which was performed to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China.
