In 2015, the National Ballet of China premiered the original ballet The Crane Calling. Inspired by the true story of conservationist Xu Xiujuan, The Crane Calling immortalized her devotion to protecting cranes on the ballet stage, earning wide acclaims at home and abroad.

As 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the premiere of The Crane Calling, a new version will return to stage at Beijing Tianqiao Theatre from September 24 to 28.

On pointe, the moving tale of an "enduring human-crane bond" will be reborn.
